Terry Fahr, MBA, PFP, CIM

Terry has over twenty-five years experience in wealth management/financial services in Vancouver. He has spent the past 18 years with RBC Financial Group as Manager-Main Branch, Royal Trust, Manager-Main Branch Royal Bank, and most recently Centre Manager-RBC Global Private Banking.

A believer in continuing education, Terry received his MBA from Dalhousie University. He has earned the Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designation-which is the highest-level portfolio management training available-through the Canadian Securities Institute. He has also earned his Personal Financial Planner (PFP) designation.

Terry’s continued education and experience includes advanced knowledge of investment management, retirement planning, estate planning and insurance.

Terry is married to JoAnne and they have two sons, Jordan and Taylor. Away from the office Terry enjoys all the benefits of living in beautiful Vancouver, from kayaking in Deep Cove, to running marathons, tennis and golf. Together Terry and JoAnne also share a love of travel.

Eleanor Chow, CFP

Eleanor has been with Royal Trust/Royal Bank for over twenty-five years.  She started with Royal Trust where she was trained as a portfolio manager in looking after high net worth individuals, estates, trusts and pension funds.  She spent 12 years as a portfolio manager before being asked to look after the Group RRSP Division in B.C. for Royal Trust/Royal Bank.  She has a degree in Education from UBC as well as the Retirement Plans Associate (RPA) designation from CEBS and Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation. 

Eleanor is married to Peter.  In her spare time Eleanor enjoys volunteering at a Seniors’ Home, traveling and doing her bit to keep the economy going by shopping. 

Darlene MacLennan

Born and raised in Vancouver, Darlene joined the financial industry in 1977 hired by Pemberton Securities Inc. as a junior clerical typist. She remained with the firm during several name changes, mergers and the purchase in 1989 by RBC Dominion Securities.
 
In 2000 Darlene joined our RBC Action Direct business unit where she worked for 3 years. She acquired her Canadian Securities Course and completed her Conduct and Practices Handbook Course while helping clients out on the Customer Service lines. She then transferred back to RBC Dominion Securities as an Associate.
 
Darlene is married to Duncan & together they are raising their son Duncan Jr. Away from the office you can find her supporting her son's activities, family commitments and entertaining family.

Kirsten Jenkins, B.SC, LL.B.

Kirsten obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of British Columbia in 1996 and graduated from the University of British Columbia Law School in 1999. Kirsten was called to the Bar in British Columbia in 2000.

Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, Kirsten practiced law for several years at a large law firm in Vancouver, specializing in the area of estate planning, estate administration and trusts. Kirsten is experienced in advising clients on estate planning matters as well as implementing those plans, including drafting Wills, trusts, insurance designations, powers of attorney and representation agreements.

Kirsten is a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP), the Estate Planning Council of Vancouver, the Canadian Association of Gift Planners and the Executive Committee of the Canadian Bar Association, BC Wills and Estates Subsection. Kirsten has published a number of articles on estate planning and administration and is also a regular contributor to various publications produced by the Continuing Legal Education Society. Kirsten frequently speaks to a number of professional, industry and community groups on estate planning and related matters.
 
Aileen La Borie   B.A., LL.B.

Aileen obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of British Columbia in 2000 and graduated from Dalhousie Law School in 2003.  She was called to the Bar in British Columbia and Ontario in 2004.

 

Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities, Aileen practiced law in Vancouver and Toronto. She specialized in estate planning, trusts and litigation until joining a major trust company in 2005.  In her previous role, Aileen assisted clients with a range of estate planning matters, including Wills, trusts, Powers of Attorney and representation agreements.

 

Aileen is a member of the Vancouver Branch Executive of The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners(STEP), the Canadian Bar Association Wills and Trusts Section(Vancouver), the State Planning Council of Vancouver, the Canadian Association of Gift Planners(Vancouver Roundtable), and The Professional Advisory Committee of the YMCA Endowment Fund.

 

Aileen’s role is to work with and support your Investment Advisor to provide you will information on structuring your estate in an efficient and tax-effective manner.  

Matthew J. Leggett, CFP

Estate Planning Specialist

Matt employs a comprehensive process to assess client needs and recommends creative, tax-exempt insurance products that will help achieve wealth management objectives. For more complicated situations, Matt will partner with other professional advisors in the development of appropriate client solutions.

Matt can focus on both personal and corporate insurance planning designed to increase net worth and reduce the impact of taxation. Matt can also ensure that accumulated wealth is transferred to heirs and beneficiaries in accordance with client wishes. To help in this endeavour, Matt has access to insurance solutions from the top-ranked insurance providers in Canada.

Matt began his career in the financial services industry in 1995 and is an expert in his field. He has acquired the Certified Financial Planning designation and is currently pursuing the Chartered Life Underwriter designation.

Dan Anders

Estate Planning Specialist

Dan Anders offers effective solutions to the problems of Excess Taxation, Estate Preservation, and Business Succession faced by many of our firm’s clientele. Dan has access to insurance solutions from the top-ranked insurance providers in Canada.

Dan was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He entered the financial services industry in 1983 with a major Canadian insurer. Following his initial success there he opened his own financial planning practice in Calgary in 1986, specializing in estate planning and employee benefits planning for individuals and business-owners.

In 1999, Dan relocated with his family to the Lower Mainland, accepting a position with an IDA firm working in their Estate Planning Department for British Columbia. From 2002–2007 inclusively, Dan lead the most successful estate planning team for that firm.

In January 2008, Dan, along with Kyoko Takahashi, accepted employment at RBC Dominion Securities.

Dan is an active member of ADVOCIS (Canadian Association of Insurance Professionals), MDRT (The Premier Association of Financial Professionals), and STEP (The International Society for Trust and Estate Practitioners).

He lives in the South Surrey / Whiterock area with his two sons, and volunteers his time with the SG International Association of Canada, a non-profit organization with NGO status in the United Nations. Dan is an avid golfer and enjoys fishing (guided) as well as recreational biking and hiking.
 
 
 

Bill Biles, B. Comm., CFP

 

Financial Planner
 

Bill prepares comprehensive Personal Financial Plans to help our clients identify and reach specific goals with respect to retirement, education and major purchase funding, insurance and estate planning.

 

With over 20 years experience in the financial services industry, Bill has worked with another IDA firm, a Chartered Bank, and a local credit union. He has extensive experience helping clients plan for retirement and dealing with severance packages.

 

Bill has his Bachelor of Commerce (Finance Major) from the University of British Columbia.  He has completed and taught the Canadian Securities Course, has completed the Life License Qualification Program, and has the professional designation “Certified Financial Planner”.

 

Sean Charlton, CFP, CIM, FMA

Financial Planner

As Financial Planner on our team, Sean will work with you to prepare a comprehensive and customized plan to help you reach your goals. Sean is a graduate of BCIT's Financial Management Program, where he specialized in Financial Planning. He holds the Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Financial Management Advisor (FMA), and Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) designations.
 
Prior to joining RBC Dominion Securities as a Financial Planner, Sean spent 5 years as a Financial Advisor/Planner where he advised high net worth clients on both the investment & credit sides of their balance sheet
 
 

Teresa MacGillivary, CGA, CFP

Financial Planner

Teresa has extensive experience offering comprehensive financial planning to clients with sophisticated and complex situations. She draws on the breadth of expertise that she has developed from over 25 years of working in the financial industry.

Teresa comes to RBC from another IDA firm, where she helped high net worth clients with their planning needs and prior to that, worked in the specialized area of estate and trust taxation. She holds her Certified General Accountant designation, and her Certified Financial Planners designation.

She also holds the Specialist, Trust Institute diploma for Taxation and obtained a Certificate of Achievement with honours in Financial Counselling from the Institute of Canadian Bankers. She has recently received the Retirement Strategist designation from ICB and is currently completing the SFU Executive Management Program through the Segal School of Business.

Sonia Park-Root, CIMA

Sonia began her career in Financial Services in 1988. She has worked with several leading companies as a Regional Vice-President and a Director, Senior Business Consultant. In these positions she was responsible for business development and training to assist Investment Advisors to meet the needs and goals of high net worth clients and not-for-profit organizations.
 
She has a solid reputation for service and commitment to her clients, derived from knowledge and expertise spanning her 20 years of industry experience.
 
In February 2007, Sonia joined RBC Dominion Securities. In her current role, Sonia partners with Investment Advisors and Portfolio Managers to provide wealth management consulting services to high net worth families and non profit organizations.
 
Sonia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She has completed the Canadian Securities Course as well as the Partners, Directors & Senior Officers Course. Sonia is a member of the
Investment Management Consultant Association (IMCA) and has her Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA) designation.
