Do you own a portfolio of stocks? Does your advisor follow a disciplined approach to managing this portfolio? How are buy, sell, hold and portfolio management decisions made?
Interestingly, the most common reason investors ask us for help with stock portfolio management is because they are tired of following a haphazard approach to decision making. In fact, when asked, the most common reason investors give for buying or selling a stock is because “it’s going up, or it’s going down.”
Although this may make intuitive sense, it’s a sure way to generate losses in an investment portfolio. A better way is to have a tried and true disciplined process, a “rule book” if you will where thousands of stocks are perpetually screened for quality and ranked based on fundamental, technical, and quantitative factors. This way you always know what’s worth owning, and what’s not. You never have to concern yourself with the finicky whims of the market; you always know you own the best.
