I have been a financial advisor with RBC Dominion Securities since 1994. Over the past fourteen years I have built my business on a foundation of trust, integrity and service. My definition of integrity is to do what you say you are going to do and by the time you said you were going to do it. This is the cornerstone of my business.
I get referred to people who are frustrated that they never hear from their financial advisor. They don’t meet with their advisor in person. They have no idea if someone is even watching over their investments, which scares them. The lack of communication leaves them worried that they might not be meeting their financial goals.
- “Your regular emails, newsletters and updates on my investments remind and assures me of your continual diligence in managing my investments”
- Dr. Francis, Retired
- “You have differentiated your service by adding value through your proactive initiative to conduct check-point meetings with us a minimum of four times a year, where you review our overall plan and situation and ensure we are fully informed and in accord with our agreed-to strategy”.
- Stuart Moore, President of Ashlar-Stone Management
- “You have demonstrated that you are knowledgeable, always up to date and attentive in the management of my portfolio. You keep my financial goals in mind and understand my investment psychology. For a person with a busy life, your scheduling of regular review meetings is most appreciated and I am always impressed by your initiative and thorough preparation of materials for discussion. My experience with you has led to a high level of trust.”
- Heather Sutherland
The other type of people I get referred to are worried that they don’t understand how much they are paying for the service of their advisor. It is not that they begrudge their advisor being paid for his or her service, they just want to understand how much they are paying and how their advisor is compensated.
- “We really like that you take the time at our quarterly face to face meetings to clearly explain how much each of the different components of our investment portfolio costs and all the fees associated with any investment options you present us with. This has led to us trusting you completely and is a very different experience than we have had in the past with Financial Advisors.”
- Bert Berneche, President of BG High Voltage
I am a Canadian Investment Manager (CIM) and Fellow of the Canadian Securities Institute (FCSI). Both of these are advanced money management designations. I am among the leading Investment Advisors at RBC Dominion Securities and have been a member of our Executive Council, which is awarded to high performing advisors across the country.
In addition to helping my clients to choose the appropriate investments, diversified among stocks, bonds, GICs and mutual funds, I have created The Total Financial Organizer ™. This is a process designed to help ensure that you have planned for all critical financial events. Critical financial events are anything and everything that could affect your financial situation either now or in the future. This process involves putting together a binder that catalogues all of your important financial documents, including your Wills, Power of Attorney, Insurance coverage, tax documents and much more. If you are thinking, “I don’t have those documents”, that would be the first order of business if you were a client of mine.
My many years in sport have taught me the power of goal setting, teamwork, and the benefits of being coached. I have been a coach to a AA hockey team in North Toronto for the past ten years. I have two business coaches and several triathlon coaches. I believe everyone should have a coach who provides expertise and that is how I run my business. I am a coach to my clients, a committed listener who enables them to achieve the results they would like to achieve.
